EID at Work—Hydro Crews Keep the Water Flowing
(11/02/2009) Every fall, as most of us prepare for the end of the year and upcoming holidays, EID employees on the hydro crew turn their full-time attention to the El Dorado canal system that transports water from high Sierra lakes for use by district customers and the production of state-certified renewable hydropower. Normally by October 1, the crew has dewatered the system for repair and maintenance over the next 45 days or so. The time frame is short because of impending adverse weather, but the work is crucial to ensure a safe and reliable flow of water all year long. More >>
EID Meter Technicians at Work
(10/20/2009) EID meter technicians start their days early and cover a lot of ground. The more than 42,000 meters in the district’s
220-square-mile service area are split into 179 routes and eight cycles, with four cycles covered every two months. From
the more densely populated western end of the county to the largely rural eastern end, meters need to be read—and
repaired or replaced, when necessary. More >>

4 feet underground gives way, forcing a pressurized stream of water
up through the pavement 30 feet into the air on Sudbury Road near
