Located in the in the western foothills of El Dorado County just 13 miles east of Placerville, picturesque Sly Park Recreation Area features a plethora of activities and historical insights. Jenkinson Lake, at the center of the park, is also a major source of water for EID customers. The lake, formed in the mid-1950s when the federal Bureau of Reclamation built Sly Park dam, has a storage capacity of 41,000 acre-feet of high-quality water. |

Protect our Water Source
Jenkinson Lake is a major source of drinking water for El Dorado County. To protect our water, park visitors must keep all domestic animals and all children in diapers out of the lake.
