WATER WISE BUSINESS CALLS. To increase your water efficiency and save money, contact EID’s officeofwaterefficiency@eid.org to schedule a complimentary business call. EID’s water efficiency field technician can provide interior/exterior water surveys for your business, and if the building is eligible – refer to PLUMBING RETROFITS above – new plumbing fixtures can be provided for self-installation.
PLUMBING RETROFITS. In 1992, the State of California adopted new plumbing code standards for toilets, showerheads, and faucet aerators. If your building was built prior to 1992, and your plumbing fixtures have not yet been replaced, then complimentary low-flow showerheads and bathroom faucet aerators, plus toilet tank dams to reduce flush volume, are available. Download this simple agreement, then print it out and submit by fax to 530-642-4512, by scan and email to officeofwaterefficiency@eid.org, or by regular mail to 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville, CA 95667. Once your request has been received and processed, the plumbing fixtures will be mailed to you. The agreement and plumbing retrofits are also available at the front desk of EID's headquarters building on Mosquito Road in Placerville.
PRE-RINSE SPRAY NOZZLES. Replace older high-flow pre-rinse spray nozzles with complimentary high-efficiency and high-velocity pre-rinse spray nozzles from EID. New pre-rinse spray nozzles are available for commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings. You may save as much as $1,000* per year in hot water costs by replacing older 2 to 6 gallon per minute spray nozzles. To obtain new nozzles, contact EID’s Office of Water Efficiency at 530-642-4126 or officeofwaterefficiency@eid.org. *Estimate is based upon tests developed by Fisher and Nickel, Inc. within the scope of the Food Service Technology Center Program on average pre-rinse spray valve use and overall California gas, water, and wastewater costs – actual savings may differ.
TOILET LEAK DETECTION. Leak detection dye tabs are available to our customers to detect if water is leaking out of the toilet tank into the toilet bowl between flushes. Simply place a blue dye tab in the toilet tank, and if the blue dye seeps into the toilet bowl, the toilet is leaking and repair or replacement is recommended. Use the agreement described in PLUMBING RETROFITS above to request dye tabs. Alternatively, several drops of food coloring may be placed in the toilet tank and the same procedure followed.
TOILET FLAPPERS. If you detect that your toilet is leaking and are unable to repair or replace the toilet, complimentary toilet flappers are available to our customers. Use the agreement described in PLUMBING RETROFITS above to request a new flapper.
The District is not offering rebates for high-efficiency toilets or clothes washers in 2011; however, we encourage you to consider replacing high-volume toilets and clothes washers with water-efficient models.
