If your building was built before 1992 and you have toilets that use 3.5 gallons of water per flush or more, you may be eligible to receive a rebate—a credit on account for EID customers or a check by mail for City of Placerville customers. To qualify, the new toilet must be installed at an address that receives water service from EID or the City of Placerville. Refer to the rebate application for a complete description of eligibility requirements.
2010 TOILET REBATES. EID offers rebates for the purchase and installation of new high efficiency (HE) WaterSense rated toilets using 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf) or less to EID or City of Placerville water service customers. These rebates are made possible in part by grant funding from the California Department of Water Resources through EID’s membership in the Regional Water Authority. For commercial, industrial, and institutional customers, a $200 rebate is available for qualifying HE toilets—up to the retail cost, whichever is less—but customers must pay the sales tax. NOTE: Due to Statewide changes in 2009, ultra low flow toilets rated at 1.6 gpf, and adjustable toilets rated between 1.28 and 1.6 gpf, will no longer qualify for a rebate.

To ensure your satisfaction, EID recommends that the new HE toilet have a maximum performance rating (MaP) of 500 grams or more. To apply: download a copy of our 2010 toilet rebate application, fill in the form completely to avoid delays, attach a copy of your sales receipt, and then drop off or send by mail to EID’s Office of Water Efficiency, 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville, CA 95667.

2010 CLOTHES WASHER REBATES. The 2010 rebate is $110 for a TIER 3 commercial grade high efficiency clothes washer (HECW) as rated by Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) for water and energy savings. WATER WISE BUSINESS CALLS. EID offers a complimentary water-use survey for commercial, industrial, and institutional properties to assist both EID and City of Placerville business customers to identify any plumbing leaks and/or fine tune their irrigation schedules. Both INDOOR and LANDSCAPE surveys are available—an appointment can be scheduled with EID’s water efficiency technician to conduct a thorough inspection of all water-using appliances, including the landscape irrigation system. At the end of the survey, a detailed report will offer the customer water-saving recommendations, including pre-qualification for a weather-based irrigation controller and irrigation system improvement rebates as appropriate.

REPLACE OLDER PRE-RINSE SPRAY NOZZLES. Receive a new, complimentary pre-rinse spray nozzle from EID. The new low-flow, high-efficiency, and high-velocity pre-rinse spray valves replace older 2 to 6 gallon per minute spray valves, and may save as much as $1,000* per year in hot water costs. *Estimate is based upon tests developed by Fisher and Nickel, Inc. within the scope of the Food Service Technology Center Program on average pre-rinse spray valve use and overall California gas, water, and wastewater costs – actual savings may differ.
