MATERIALS AVAILABLE: Educational materials are available to all local school districts within the EID service area and the City of Placerville. These complimentary materials include interactive classroom booklets for your students (K-8) concerning water conservation, the water cycle, wastewater treatment, our environment, recycling, and water-themed coloring books. Educators and community youth leaders may contact EID’s Office of Water Efficiency at 530-642-4126 or officeofwaterefficiency@eid.org to request educational materials.
MEDIA IN EDUCATION: Formerly Newspapers in Education, this expanded Media in Education (MIE) program meets the state-standards for grades K-8, while delivering student supplements, teaching materials, an opportunity to win prizes, and a special MIE subscription. The updated “Be Water Smart News: Water, the Never Ending Cycle” supplement encourages students to practice water efficiency in everyday activities. The newspaper supplement and The Bee’s electronic editions are brought to El Dorado County schools by EID, the Regional Water Authority’s Be Water Smart Educational Program, and the Sacramento Bee MIE. Educators, click here to learn more from The Bee’s website and to register online or download a registration form here and then fax or mail in.
LANDSCAPE PUBLICATIONS: Complimentary publications are available in the lobby of the headquarters building at 2890 Mosquito Road, including landscape design and plant selection. The popular and interactive CD ROM: “Water-Wise Gardening in the Gold Country Region” is also available in the lobby or online by clicking this link. The software illustrates both the beauty and sensibility of native and drought-tolerant plants with current landscape trends and designs.
