Water-everyone needs it. But where does your water come from?

The water EID treats and distributes to customers starts out as snowpack, high in the Sierra mountain range. As the snow melts, the water flows into various watersheds and into reservoirs like Jenkinson Lake and Folsom Lake. But before it gets to your tap, that water needs to be treated to strict state and federal standards.

Filtration and chlorination are just a couple of the steps needed to ensure that safe drinking water courses through the District’s complex distribution system to homes and businesses in your neighborhood.

Want to learn more? Join us on a tour of EID’s El Dorado Hills water treatment plant on one of the following Wednesdays: August 10, August 24, September 14, and September 28. Each tour lasts from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and there is no cost to attend. Send an e-mail to James Murphy at jmurphy@eid.org or call 530-642-4408 to reserve a place today. Each tour is limited to 25 participants (priority to District ratepayers).
