FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Placerville, Calif. — For the month of August, EID customers reduced their water use by 30 percent compared to August 2013, exceeding the mandatory reduction of 28 percent yet again.
EID is required to reduce its water consumption by 28 percent from June 2015 through February 2016, compared to the same months in 2013, under a mandate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board.
“These extraordinary results show how engaged and aware EID’s customers have been,” said EID General Manager Jim Abercrombie. “Thank you, sincerely, for helping us exceed the state’s requirements during this severe multi-year drought.”
Beginning October 1, customers will switch back to a two day a week watering schedule. Even numbered addresses are allowed to water on Wednesday and Sunday and odd numbered addresses on Tuesday and Saturday.
Additional information is available on EID’s website at www.eid.org/drought along with ideas for how customers can save water inside and outside of their homes or businesses.
EID is a public agency dedicated to providing high quality water, wastewater treatment, recycled water, hydropower, and recreation services in an environmentally and fiscally responsible manner.
