FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Placerville, Calif. — El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) is in the process of drawing new EID Board division lines in the wake of the 2010 census. The EID Redistricting Advisory Committee, a committee comprised of five public members and EID General Counsel Tom Cumpston, who serves as project manager, began meeting in March to guide the redistricting process. District staff will conduct four public outreach meetings over the coming months to review the committee’s work-in-progress and solicit input. The meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as follows:
- Monday, June 6 — El Dorado Hills Community Services District, 1021 Harvard Way, El Dorado Hills
- Wednesday, June 8 — Camino Union School District, 3060 Snows Road, Camino
- Monday, July 18 — Cameron Park Community Services District Community Center, 2502 Country Club Drive, Cameron Park
- Wednesday, July 20 — EID headquarters, 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville
Additionally, the advisory committee meetings are now open to the public for observation purposes. “Any member of the public may come observe the committee at work, but we ask that interested parties sign up to attend, due to space limitations,” said Cumpston. Future meetings of the committee will be held at 8:00 a.m. at District headquarters on May 25, June 22, and July 27. Sign-up instructions are listed on the EID website at www.eid.org on the redistricting webpage. Also included on the webpage is pertinent material concerning redistricting, including maps, a “frequently asked questions” document, staff reports, and power point presentations.
According to Cumpston, the goal of the committee is to finish their work and present final boundary options to the EID Board at their meeting on August 22, 2011. Cumpston will also present public status reports at EID Board meetings on June 13, July 25, and August 8.
