Due to the Sand Fire burning in the Outingdale area, drought watering restrictions were temporarily lifted. Now that the threat of fire has passed, mandated water restrictions will resume on Friday, August 1.

For the week of July 23 through July 29, customer water demand was 24 percent below the three-year average for this week. Cumulative water demand—from January 1 to July 29—is 11 percent below the three-year average.

As of June 10, conservation during the week of June 4 to June 10 was just 3 percent below the three-year average and cumulative year-to-date (January 1 to June 10) conservation was only 6 percent below. We’re still a long way off from our 30 percent target.

At its Monday, April 14, Board meeting, the EID Board of Directors approved changes to its Drought Action Plan which included specific watering restrictions that will go into effect April 22.

Did you know? Treatment plants are not designed to remove medications from wastewater. When chemicals are disposed of in sinks and toilets they can reach the environment unintentionally.

During its March 10, 2014 meeting, the EID Board of Directors received an update on the success of the District’s recent bond refinancing. EID Director of Finance Mark Price noted that the results of the February 13, 2014, bond refinancing were outstanding.

At its February 24, 2014 meeting, the El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors voted unanimously to direct staff to use the lower of the last two years—either 2013 or 2014—of winter water usage billing cycles to establish a customer’s 2014 sewer commodity rate.

Last night, the El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors held a special meeting to consider declaring a Stage 1 Water Alert. Due to the severity of the ongoing drought, however, the Board decided to jump to a Stage 2 Water Warning, which calls for voluntary conservation of 30%.

On February 4, a special meeting of the El Dorado Irrigation District board of directors will convene to consider declaring a Stage 1 water alert. It has been widely reported that 2013 was the driest year in recorded history for many areas of California. Current conditions suggest much of the same for 2014.
