Public Tour – Reservoir A Water Treatment Plant

 Reservoir A

Join the El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) for a public tour of the Reservoir A Water Treatment Plant located in Pollock Pines. 

This unique behind-the-scenes tour offers an opportunity to learn how EID captures, treats, and delivers safe drinking water throughout its expansive 220-square-mile service area. 

Participants will explore the journey of water beginning in the High Sierra and Jenkinson Lake, one of EID’s largest water supply sources. Guests will learn how raw water travels to the Reservoir A Water Treatment Plant, where it undergoes multiple treatment processes before being delivered to homes, businesses, schools, and fire protection systems across the community.  During the tour, attendees will gain insight into: 

  • EID’s regional water supply system 

  • How drinking water is treated to meet state and federal standards 

  • Reservoir operations and water storage 

  • Distribution infrastructure and system reliability 

  • The importance of maintaining and reinvesting in critical water infrastructure 

The Reservoir A Water Treatment Plant plays an important role in EID’s water system by treating water supplied from Jenkinson Lake and distributing it to customers throughout portions of EID’s service area. The facility helps support reliable water delivery for residential, agricultural, commercial, and fire protection needs. 

Tour Information 

  •  Check-in begins at 5:15 p.m. 

  •  Tour starts promptly at 5:30 p.m. 

  •  Space is limited, and reservations are required

If the tour reaches capacity, interested participants will be placed on a wait list. 

Important Safety Information 

This tour is primarily outdoors and includes walking on uneven and hilly terrain, as well as metal-grated stairs. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. 

For safety reasons, children under 12 years old are not permitted on the tour. 

All participants will be required to sign an EID liability waiver prior to participating.
