Placerville, Calif. — EID urges a cautious approach to local streams and rivers. As the weather begins to warm up, the snow at higher elevations of theSwiftWaterRescue Sierra Nevada is beginning to melt.

With record amounts of snow this year it is anticipated that local streams and rivers—including Caples Creek and the South Fork and Silver Fork American River—will be noticeably higher and colder for a longer period than in recent years.

These factors will likely make recreation areas and trail crossings along streams hazardous and unusable well into the summer recreation season.

EID is a public agency dedicated to providing high quality water, wastewater treatment, recycled water, hydropower, and recreation services in an environmentally and fiscally responsible manner.
