During the June 24, 2013 Board meeting, EID Accounting Manager Tony Pasquarello reported that independent auditing and accounting firm Richardson & Company conducted the 2012 financial audit of EID and issued an unqualified “clean” opinion, meaning there were no material findings, and this is the highest level of assurance an auditor can have.

At its February 25 meeting, the EID Board of Directors approved a Letter of Understanding (LOU), amending EID’s labor contract with its Employees Association to authorize early implementation of Assembly Bill 340, the Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA).

The Forebay Dam Modification Project will remediate the El Dorado Forebay Dam (Forebay) and its associated facilities. While the District is currently working on design, environmental review, permitting, and other administrative aspects of the project, the active construction period is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2015 and be completed in the fall of 2016.

EID is addressing the maintenance and replacement of aging infrastructure through its capital improvement planning process. The National Association of Water Companies and U.S. Chamber of Commerce have launched a campaign designed to increase dialogue on the need to address our decaying water infrastructure, and to mobilize communities to become involved in finding solutions to this challenge.

As adopted by the EID Board of Directors on March 26, 2012, and as a result of the findings from a recent cost of service study, effective January 1, 2013, water rates will increase by 11% and wastewater rates will increase by 5%.

At its November 13 meeting, the El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors adopted the 2013 operating budget in the amount of $43.8 million. In accordance with Board policy, the Board adopts a two-year budget and conducts a mid-cycle review to determine any changes that may be needed in the second year of the cycle.
