El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) Board Members are elected by registered voters within the District's boundaries. EID participates in a consolidated Districts election process, which places local special district elections on the same ballot as other statewide and countywide races. This consolidation reduces costs for participating agencies and increases voter participation by combining elections.

At the November 3, 2026 General Election, voters will have the opportunity to elect two candidates to four-year terms on the EID Board of Directors (Division 2 and Division 4). Division 4 includes voters in both El Dorado County and Sacramento County.

Candidates interested in running for the EID Board of Directors may obtain declaration of candidacy forms from the El Dorado County Elections Department and the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections Department beginning July 13, 2026.

EID Board of Directors: Elections/Terms of Office

EID’s service area is divided into five political divisions. All registered voters, whether a ratepayer or not, who reside within those divisions elect EID’s Board of Directors to four-year terms on a staggered basis. This means that two of the Directors (Divisions 2 and 4) are elected in the same year, and the other three Directors (Divisions 1, 3, and 5) are elected two years later.  Elections are held in even years to coincide with general elections.

EID Board members elect their officers, a president and vice president, to one-year term.
