Chuck was born in Placerville and raised in a farming family in Apple Hill. After attending local public schools and graduating with honors from El Dorado High School in 2002, he continued his education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Following a year of study and work in vineyards abroad, he returned to Cal Poly to assist in developing the curriculum for the university’s new Wine and Viticulture program. He graduated with the program’s inaugural class in 2006, earning a degree with a concentration in Enology.

Chuck’s career began with an executive internship program at E & J Gallo Winery. In 2007, he returned to Placerville to help complete the development of David Girard Vineyards. Over the next several years, he gained valuable experience developing vineyards in Sonoma County. Ultimately, Chuck realized his long-term vision of returning to El Dorado County to contribute to the local agricultural industry and expand the family farming business, which was founded in 1981.

Since 2015, Chuck has managed Goldbud Farm, overseeing hundreds of acres of vineyards and orchards throughout El Dorado County.

In addition to his work in agriculture, Chuck is actively involved in the community. Since 2017, he has served on the Board of Directors of the El Dorado Wine Grape Growers Association. In 2022, he was appointed to the El Dorado County Agricultural Commission as the Fruit and Nut Farming Industry expert. Chuck is also the Vice President of the Placerville Fruit Growers Association. Prior to his election to the EID board, he contributed to EID’s Irrigation Management System Advisory Group, helping to inform Directors and Executive staff about potential impacts of policy decisions.

Chuck resides in Placerville with his wife, Kristin, and two sons, John and Ben. A lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, he enjoys coaching youth sports, including basketball, soccer, baseball, and football.
