El Dorado Irrigation District has identified water service lines as a common point of failure in its water infrastructure network. To remedy this issue, staff have worked to identify areas of concentrated failure and address those areas as the first priority in its water service replacement program.

District staff notify customers when we will be in your neighborhood with road signs, mailers, or, if you have a Homeowners Association (HOA), notifications through the HOA.

How do you access the water lines?
Staff access the water mains and services through excavation using backhoes and hydroexcavation equipment.

Will the construction activity restrict access to my home?
No. District staff will ensure you always have access to your home. If there is a conflict with access, such as a car parked over a meter box, you will be notified. We will never restrict or block access for residents, fire, police, or EMS.

Do you shut off my water service, and for how long?
In order to replace the water services, the District must temporarily interrupt your water service. You will be notified in advance of this service interruption, and it will last for no longer than one business day. Interruptions usually only last a couple of hours.
