The reservation pays for the first vehicle in the site; most sites have room for 1 more vehicle please call Reservation Office at 530-295-6810 if you will have more than 2 vehicles to see if there is room. Additional vehicles pay fees when they arrive.
How many people can I have in my campsite?
Individual sites can have up to 8 people per site.
What is your cancellation policy?
Individual site cancellations can be made up to 4 days prior to your arrival date. Cancellation fee is $15. Reservation and Change fees are not refundable. No refunds or changes within 4 days of arrival.
Group site and Event Center cancellations can be made up to 14 days prior to your arrival date. Cancellation fee is $50. Reservation and Change fees are not refundable. No refunds or changes within 14 days of arrival.
Do you allow campfires?
Campfires are allowed in the designated fire ring, the fire cannot exceed the size of the ring, the flames cannot be more than 3 feet tall and the wood cannot be more than 6 inches around.
Do you have showers?
No, we do not have shower facilities.
Do you have hookups?
No, we do not have hookups. We do have a septic dump station you can use (included with the price of the campsite), water spigots are available to fill your tank but you cannot stay connected, no electricity is available.
Can I run a generator?
Generator hours are limited to 7am to 9am, Noon to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm only.
How far away is a grocery store?
The closest is the Sly Park Resort General Store across the street from the main entrance to the park.
There is a Safeway in Pollock Pines, approximately 4.5 miles north on Sly Park Road.
Do you have bears?
Bears have not been a problem in the campgrounds. It is always a good idea to put away food and garbage at night for the other critters that can be troublesome (like squirrels, raccoons or birds).
Where can I park my boat trailer?
You are welcome to leave your trailer in your campsite. If you do not have room at your campsite we have a designated parking area for boats trailers or you can leave it in the boat launch parking lot. The gatehouse will give you directions when you arrive.
Do you have Wi-Fi in the campground?
Do you have cell phone reception in the campground?
There is limited cell phone reception near the entrance of the park. The signal diminishes as you travel into the park.
We are staying in the Group Area, do we have to pay the Day Use fee for the main park?
One vehicle is pre-paid to enter the main park. All other vehicles will have to pay the Day Use fee.
Can I get a yearly pass for my boat?
Yes, Annual Permits are available for your boat. See our Annual Day Use Permit page for an application. Annual Day-use permits are valid at Sly Park Recreation Area and our facilities at Caples and Silver lakes.
Can I bring my Jet Ski or Sea-Doo?
Personal watercraft of any kind is not allowed on Jenkinson Lake.
Do I have to pay for my kayak or canoe?
There is no fee for boats that do not have a motor or a CF #.
What is the speed limit?
When the lake level is 65% or below the maximum speed limit is 15 MPH. When the lake level is above 65% maximum speed limit is 35 mph.
We do not have fish cleaning stations at this time.
What kind of fish are in Jenkinson Lake?
Rainbow trout, German Brown, mackinaw, large and small mouth bass, and bluegill can all be found in Jenkinson Lake.
How old do you have to be to need a fishing license?
Anyone 16 years of age or older needs a fishing license.
Where can I get a fishing license?
The closest place to get a fishing license is the CVS in Pollock Pines. Approximately 4.5 miles north on Sly Park Road, under the freeway, left on Pony Express Trail, 1 block and CVS is on the left.
Do I have to pay for my dog if I have an Annual Permit?
No, your pets are included with the Annual Permit for day use. Please remember to keep your dogs on a leash at all times and out of the water.
I got a new windshield! How can I get a new Annual Permit sticker?
Remove the old stickers from the old windshield and bring them to the Reservation Office for replacement.
I am selling my car! How can I get a new Annual Permit sticker?
Remove the old stickers from the vehicle you are selling and bring them to the Reservation Office for replacement.
When can I purchase an annual pass for next year?
Annual Permit stickers are available for purchase on November 1st for the coming year.
How do I get to the waterfall?
The trailhead for the waterfall starts at the Bumpy Meadows parking lot just past the second dam, off Mormon Emigrant Trail. This is a $5 self-pay day use area. It is approximately three miles each way. Click link for the Trail Map.
The waterfall flow usually stops mid-June through the fall. For current flow information go to the Jenkinson Lake Streamflow Information page and select Jenkinson Lake Waterfall in the drop down menu.
Please note: When the lake is full the waterfall gets shut off. In addition, there are other circumstances that require that the waterfall is shut off. Please check the website or call the Gatehouse to see if the waterfall is flowing.
Can I bring my own barbecue?
Yes, you may bring your own barbecue if you place it on or next to the provided barbecue. No barbecues are allowed on the beach.
Can I have a fire in the Day Use Area or on the beach?
Fires are not allowed in the Day Use Areas or on the beach.
Why can't my dog go in the water?
Jenkinson Lake is a drinking water reservoir and our State Drinking Water Agreement prohibits domestic animals in the water or streams.
When I come to Sly Park do I have to pay the fee if I am just going to be here for an hour?
Yes, the mandatory entry fee applies to all guests. All fees collected are put right back into maintaining our Recreation facilities.
